Piece of Your Pie

I’m so delighted
and flattered, too,
to be invited
to dinner with you.
Alone?
Just you and me?
The prospect’s filled
with much energy.

What will you cook?
What are you willing to share?
You’re cooking for me,
so why should I care?
But I’ve a request
you might satisfy.
For dessert
I’m rather partial to pie.

Warm from the oven,
might be a bit tart,
taste that sizzles ’round my tongue
and straight to my heart…
As well as dinner
I can’t deny,
I’m looking forward
to a piece of your pie.

Yes, I like chicken,
but baked and not fried.
Rice or potato,
greens on the side?
Excuse my caution
filling my plate.
It’s your dessert
that I’ll anticipate.

Apple, blueberry,
but heaven’s in reach
with succulent cherry,
or better yet, peach.
Luscious thoughts;
how high can I rise?
There seems no limit
when I contemplate pie.

Warm from the oven,
might be a bit tart,
taste that sizzles ’round my tongue
and straight to my heart…
And after dinner
I’d almost die
to have before me
a piece of your pie.

Warm from the oven…
Oh! It would be sweet
to lick my moustache
after tasting your treat.
Me, single-minded?
I won’t lie
about how much I want
a piece of your pie.
